Pair of cheeseboards
This stunning pair of beech wood cheeseboards was made from the branch of a tree grown in our little wood in the Peak District National Park, on the edge of the Yorkshire Moors. The beech tree lost a branch in a recent storm so you could call this a windfall gift from nature. Whether you're looking for a his 'n' her cheese lover's gift, or a simple wooden cheeseboard for your own table, with one for a foodie friend, these beech wood cheeseboards are sure to please.
Small and simple, these beech wood cheeseboards are nonetheless full of symbolism. In Celtic mythology, the beech tree symbolises learning and wisdom, and is a symbol of prosperity. For Druids, the beech is the mother of the woods, generous and protecting, a bringer of blessings and good fortune. In Greek mythology, Helen of Troy carved her lover’s name into a beech tree, and Jason built the Argo from beech wood. As a wood of wisdom and protection, luck and love, what could make a more lovely housewarming or hostess gift than a pair of beech wood cheese platters?
We've gently sanded both sides of our beech wood cheeseboards but we've left the bark completely natural. We've also given each cheeseboard a coat of organic flaxseed oil to help preserve the wood. As with all our wooden gifts and homeware, the ones you see in the photo are the ones you get. Please note that the knife shown in the photo is not included. And nor is the cheese! :-)
To clean the wood, just wipe it with a damp cloth. We're currently offering free shipping and free gift wrapping on all UK mainland orders.
